Innovative ideas with a new perspective to generate a new revolution for respect

The title was intriguing - creating a contagious culture of respect.
It is not often that I can say I enjoyed discussing a virus - the respect virus. This book is very easy to read, entertaining and offers new ways to think about respect.
I enjoyed the Mickey Mouse theory of Interpersonal Communication and the chair theory. It opened my mind to really think about the three sides of perspective.
But my favorite strategy is creating a personal engagement plan. I love the idea of two minutes every day totally engaging directly with a person and learning more about each other.

R E S P E C T...Find out what it means to me!

Now that I have infected your brain with a song, I want to spread another virus; The Respect Virus. Diane Windingland has written a clear and concise book on the use of genuine respect as a management tool. She gives us the means to help make not only our lives easier, but also those who must deal with us on a daily basis. With the “Platinum Rule Plus”, she outdoes the “Golden Rule” by a longshot. Don’t treat people how you would like to be treated. Rather, “Treat other people the way their best selves would want your best self to treat them.” With that as her goal, she moves us from “gridlock to dialogue” in less than sixty pages, using a great number of examples, exercises and gentle humor along the way.
Nothing here is groundbreaking. It doesn’t have to be. We know that we should listen. We should be kind. We should see other sides of an argument. We should. But we often forget to. That is where this book helps. Be considerate, be grateful, and infect with respect.

"The Respect Virus" is much more than a book about the importance and value of respect. It's a practical and easy-to-incorporate guide to improving communication and relationships -- both personal and professional. (In fact, it could have been called "How to Win Friends and Influence People," except that that title was already taken.) The author uses entertaining and engaging examples to demonstrate her points and her recommendations, and the book can easily be read in less than an hour. I'd love to see the Respect Virus spread throughout the world -- we'd have a much healthier planet if it did!
